THIRD OUT! MEETING TO BE HELD ONLINE

The third transnational network meeting of OUT! will take place on Thursday, 15th October 2020 via a video conferencing application.

The meeting was supposed to be held at the headquarters of the Royal Belgian Football Association (KBVB/URBSFA) in Brussels, an option sadly made impractical by the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

While the previous two gatherings focused on the experience of fans and clubs and players respectively, this one, organised by Football Supporters Europe (FSE) and KBVB/URBSFA, will foreground the role played by national associations and leagues in tackling homophobia, biphobia, and transphobia in football.

The event will be attended by the other main partners of the initiative—Fußballfans gegen Homophobie (FFGH) and Pride in Football (PIF)—as well as other key stakeholders, including representatives from various professional football leagues and European football associations.

The workshops will be closed, but everybody is welcome to register for the panel discussion. Panellists include Matthias de Roover (amateur football player, Mister Gay Belgium 2019, Belgium), Di Cunningham (3 Lions Pride and Proud Canaries), Sarah Gregorius (former New Zealand national team player, Policy and Strategy Officer, FIFPro, the Netherlands), and Claudia Krobitzsch (Diversity Manager, Deutscher Fußball-Bund, Germany). Together, they will consider the impact of homophobic, biphobic, and transphobic sentiment and discrimination, what can be done to counter it, and how to bring together different parts of the football world to empower LGBT+ individuals and organisations.
